Dr. Yaga Venugopal Reddy (born 1941) was recipient of the second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 2010 for exceptional and
distinguished service in Public Affairs.
He was Governor, Reserve Bank of India, for five years up to 2008. Prior to that, he was on Board of International Monetary Fund(IMF).
He served Governments in several capacities including Secretary in Ministry of Finance in Union Government, and Secretary in Planning and Finance Department in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
Dr. Reddy was also on Panel of Experts of Fiscal Affairs Department in IMF and adviser to Executive Director in World Bank.
Since 2008, Dr. Reddy has been active in global policy initiatives relating to reforms of the international monetary and financial systems;
in academic activities in India and abroad; and in publishingbooks in the broad areas of monetary, financial and fiscal issues.
On January 2, 2013 Dr. Reddy was appointed as the Chairman of the Fourteenth Finance Commission of India.
