Sixteenth Finance Commission in collaboration with the World Bank group organized a two-day conference on International Workshop on Financing Disaster Risk Management in India on 28-29 November 2024. Conference saw the participation of representatives from Ministry of Home Affairs, various States, and organizations working in the field of Disaster Management. Topics of discussion included State Experiences of State & National Disaster Risk Management Fund (SDRMF & NDRMF) Utilisation during 2021-24, Allocation of funds to states and the Disaster Risk Index, Better Utilization of Disaster Funding, Leveraging Risk Transfer & Global Best Practices to Strengthen India’s DRF System, Enabling Tech for Disaster Management and Climate Change and Disasters: Understanding and Preparing for a new era of Disaster Risk.
